Oftec

The Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) was launched in April 1991 to construct a framework within which oil firing in the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland could operate with a greater degree of technical expertise and efficiency. One of its first priorities was to set up a system of training and registration for technicians engaged in commissioning, servicingand installing oil firing equipment.

Now a trade association representing manufacturers and installers of oil firing and cooking equipment such as oil boilers, range cookers and storage tanks, OFTEC also runs a Competent Persons Scheme for technicians who work on oil fired appliances, offering training and membership registration. OFTEC Registration aims to raise safety standards and increase environmental protection. For Technicians it aims to produce financial benefits through customer service, fewer accidents and greater product reliability and efficiency.

OFTEC also tests and approves oil firing equipment, and represents the industry in discussions with regulatory agencies. It is the leading organization, recognized by governments, manufacturers, distributors and consumers for the oil-firing industry.

The OFTEC Codes of Practice, set standards for the industry and are rigorously followed by its members and registered technicians.
